Who wins if two or more players have a royal flush? Normally, the person with the highest card wins. However, if two or more players have the same high card, then the second highest card plays. This is called the kicker. In the example below, Player 1 has the king as its second highest card, and Player 2 has the queen. So, which player wins?
When two or more players have the same premium hand, such as a straight flush, then they are tied. A royal flush can only happen if both players have the royal flush. A straight draw, however, is almost impossible, and one player’s high card may beat another’s low card. That is why, in a wild-card game, five of a kind is considered a winning hand.
In this case, the player with the higher card wins the game. If the two players have the same pair or a three-of-a-kind, the player with the higher pair or kicker wins. But if one player has the higher pair or three-of-a-kind, then the player with the highest pair wins the game. But if two players both have the same high card, the second player will win.
In a three-card game, the best hand wins if one or more players have a five-card hand. But in a two-card game, a high pair wins. The highest pair is the highest pair. If two or more players have two pairs, the higher pair wins. So, if Player 1 has K Q, Player 2 will win. If the higher pair wins, the lower pair will lose.
