Older People and Casinos

If you have ever visited a casino, you’ve probably noticed a lot of elderly people. In fact, you can’t help but notice how many old people are wearing grey hair. In fact, some researchers have even said that playing casino games can actually help to prevent age-related brain diseases. One study at Suwa Tokyo University of Science examined the brain activity of elderly subjects and found that their recognition abilities increased when they played casino games. Nonetheless, others say that playing at casinos is unethical and carries a significant risk of addiction.
A study by the American Gaming Association revealed that 75 percent of older people who go to casinos make a budget beforehand. Interestingly, three-fourths of these individuals limit their spending to less than $200, while the other thirds stay within their budget. The study also showed that seniors who play casino games have better money management skills than the general population. They also suffer fewer gambling problems than the average person. But do seniors really enjoy gambling?
The reason why many older people enjoy playing slot machines is because the graphics are bright and big. Slot machines are easy to use and can make older people feel like stars. It is not surprising that older women are more likely to play these games than older men. In fact, a recent study found that slot machines are more popular with non-Millenials than they are with Millenials. This study suggests that casinos have become a great place for old people to socialize.
